What's This?

Oppo revealed the Find 7 is coming sometime in the next few months, saying it will be with us very soon. This is big news and the follow up from the Chinese company is just as lucrative, confirming the 2K display rumors.

This is the first company to come out and say their next smartphone will have a 2K display and matches Oppo’s powerful move to get the best of the best on their flagship devices, backed up by the fact the Oppo Find 5 was the first 1080p smartphone.

2K displays are the next Android stepping stone, where 1080p may have been the highlight of 2013 times move quickly on the open source operating system and we are going to see 2650 x 1600 resolution on smartphones in 2014.

Display manufacturers are already making the 2K displays for smartphones and both Sony and Samsung should have their own panels out by the time CES comes around, showing off the big jump in resolution.

This will lead to a huge launch lineup at MWC 2014 in Barcelona, where the Galaxy S5, HTC One (Two?), LG G3, Xperia Z2 and Oppo Find 7 are likely to be announced.

Oppo may launch the Find 7 at another event, if it is not MWC the event will most likely be in China with a worldwide release a few months after. Oppo has been trying to push out international dates quicker since the Find 5 success.

The 2K display on the Oppo Find 7 will not be the only exciting feature, the Chinese manufacturer is planning to pack a octa-core processor from MediaTek, 3GB of RAM and will add a high-definition low-light camera.

One of the problems with the Find 5 was and still is software – the Color OS shipped on the smartphone is dreadful in most instances, reminding us of a mix between Samsung with a more abstract style.

Oppo did a half measure by adding CyanogenMod to the Oppo N1, giving the user a choice between the default and one of the favourite ROMs in the US and Europe.
