OPPO has launched the new Reno2 Series in Europe at the English National Ballet in London. At the event, OPPO unveiled two new Reno2 Series devices, its first wireless headphones and expansion plans for the European market – with the company set to launch in Germany, Portugal and Belgium in 2020.
The Reno Series is known for combining art and technology, complementing our lifestyle choices and style. The new OPPO Reno2 and OPPO Reno2 Z are no different and come packed with smart new features to unlock the creative potential of customers, including a quad-camera setup, new all-action photography and video capabilities, as well as an easy-to-use editing studio.
Ultra-Steady brings all-action camera capabilities
New camera innovations bring an all-action experience to smartphones
OPPO has introduced a number of innovations in mobile photography and videography in the Reno2 Series. The Reno2 comes equipped with four cameras; 48MP Ultra-Clear Main camera, 13MP Telephoto lens, 2MP Mono lens and 8MP Wide Angle lens, which enable 5x Hybrid Zoom and 20x Digital Zoom, using Fusion Imaging technology to switch between focal lengths. This means crisp, ultra-high-quality content in long-distance scenarios. Whilst the Reno2 Z comes with a 48MP Ultra-Clear Main camera, 8MP Wide Angle Lens, 2MP Mono Lens and a 2MP Portrait Lens.
Perhaps the biggest advancement in its camera capabilities is OPPO’s new Ultra-Steady Video Mode, which leverages Hybrid Image Stabilisation technology (a combination of electronic and optical image stabilisation) to ensure accuracy and improve anti-shake. It also includes a gyro sensor much like those used in action cameras.
Together, with a frame rate of up to 60 fps, video captured on the Reno2 Series is close to the quality level of purpose-built action cameras. Whether running, skiing or skateboarding, the Reno2 Series will help you capture the action in perfect clarity.
Further enhancing the video experience is the inclusion of OPPO’s unique one-tap video editing and sharing editor, called SOLOOP, letting customers efficiently and professionally edit the visual content they create. It will automatically add music to match with the timing and transitions of your footage so you can create a masterpiece in a minute. It also intelligently identifies the content within the albums for characters and scenes and offers up edit solutions.
It’s not just video either where OPPO has introduced new innovations. It has also incorporated new modes into its camera set up, including:
- Ultra Dark Mode – lets users capture clear night scenes, even in cases where the ambient brightness is less than 1 lux. It only takes 2-2.5 seconds to capture an entire dark scene, making it one of the fastest night shooters on the market.
- Ultra Wide Mode – providing a 119° (Reno2 Z) or 116° (Reno2) field of view, perfect for capturing expansive landscape shots or videos, much like purpose-built all-action cameras.
- Ultra Macro Mode (Reno2 Only) – lets you shoot down to 2.5cm from an object quickly and easily, capturing details that even our eyes can’t see both for images and videos.
- Updated Portrait Mode – includes two new portrait effects, giving users up to 7 different portrait shots with adjustable Bokeh HDR mode. The new Bokeh effect is also available for video in an industry first.
The user-centric design combines practicality with style
OPPO has been at the forefront of screen innovation since it first introduced the world’s first true full-screen experience when it launched the Panoramic Arc Screen in the Find X, in 2018. OPPO has continued this trend with the Reno2 Series, designing devices that offer an immersive, notchless viewing experience encapsulated in a stunning body.
The Reno2 is equipped with a 6.5” E3 AMOLED screen, with a screen-to-body ratio of 93%. It is made from durable 6th Generation Corning Gorilla Glass. The Reno2 Z features a slightly smaller 6.5” E1 AMOLED screen, with a screen-to-body ratio of 91%, made from toughened 5th Generation Corning Gorilla Glass.
To enable a full-screen experience, OPPO has once again included its innovative front-facing pop-up cameras. The Reno2 has a 16MP Shark fin pop-up Camera, supporting ultra-clear backlit shots and all-new AI Beauty Mode while the Reno2 Z features a 16MP pop-up front camera featuring an Atmosphere Light.
Additionally, the screen includes Hidden Fingerprint Unlock 3.0, giving users a brighter unlock area and faster unlocking speeds.
Encapsulating the screen is a seamless, one-piece curved body, which is available in three colours: Luminous Black (Reno2 & Reno2 Z), Ocean Blue (Reno2) and Sky White (Reno2 Z). These colours move and change with the light, almost like the deep sea, bringing a unique design to the Reno2 Series.
Cutting-edge hardware and software to deliver superb performance
The Reno2 Series is powered by ColorOS 6.1, running on the latest version of Android 9.0, and features a smoother, more enjoyable and immersive user experience. New gestures to manage navigation make the phone more comfortable to operate with a single hand.
The new series also takes smartphone gaming to the next level, with optimised features like Touch Boost 2.0, Frame Boost 2.0 and Game Space. The Reno2 Series has been awarded five-star gaming performance certification from TUV Rheinland, which tests the overall gaming performance of the phone from the screen, battery life, performance, and signal strength.
To ensure customers are powered throughout the day and never miss a moment when creativity strikes, the OPPO Reno2 Series comes with a large 4,000mAh battery. Combined with OPPO’s fast and safe VOOC Flash Charge 3.0 technology, which uses a new VFC algorithm to reduce trickle charging speed, customers will not have to worry about running out of battery at key moments – whether out and about or gaming.
