Brand collaborations are always fun to see, especially when they involve big names across different industries and such. With that said, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. and the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team have announced a multi-year agreement, which will feature the Snapdragon brand.
For those not familiar with Snapdragon, it’s one of Qualcomm’s biggest product brands, which is used in a vast number of chipsets and mobile platforms that power smartphones, gaming devices, computers, smart appliances, wearables, and more.
This collaboration will see both brands come together to create unique fan experiences, both in-person and digitally. The team will likewise explore opportunities to leverage Snapdragon and other Qualcomm products as a means of advancing its digital transformation, and push towards a more modern smart space at the team’s campus in the UK.
As a result of this new partnership, the Snapdragon logo will be featured on the team’s 2023 car, the Mercedes-AMG F1 W14 E PERFORMANCE, which was unveiled at the Silverstone circuit in the UK earlier today. Snapdragon branding will also be shown on drivers’ race suits, the clothing of senior personnel and within the garage and team environment’s trackside. According to Don McGuire, SVP and CMO of Qualcomm Technologies, Inc:
“Snapdragon delivers premium experiences, and our partners are best in class. The Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team is the leading tech-forward team in F1, making them the ideal partner of choice for the Snapdragon brand. Together, we are committed to reimagining the fan experience by bringing Snapdragon to fans around the world.”
Toto Wolff, Team Principal and CEO of the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team adds:
“Innovation is core to our business. It is just as important in connecting with our fans, and building the workplace of the future, as it is in the design and creation of our race cars. With the Snapdragon brand, we have the perfect partner to innovate and transform. We look forward to creating unique and bold solutions as we push ahead in these areas.”
Likewise, Richard Sanders, Chief Commercial Officer of the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team stated:
“We are pleased to announce our collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies, and welcome them into our expanding partner ecosystem. With several exciting projects planned, our shared passion for technology and innovation will bring noticeable benefits to our fans, our partners, and our team. It is great to welcome the Snapdragon brand and to see the logo on our newly launched 2023 car. We look forward to broadening our collaboration as we embark on our renewed partnership.”
The Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team is one of the biggest names in the sport, having won seven consecutive double Drivers’ and Constructors’ World Championships from 2014 to 2020 and securing a record-breaking eighth consecutive Constructors’ Championship success in 2021.
With all that being said, it’s definitely safe to say that Qualcomm is pushing forward with marketing its Snapdragon brand to more people and organizations across the globe. A while back, the company unveiled its Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipsets, which feature some of Qualcomm’s latest improvements to mobile computing power. The chip powers new flagship smartphones including the Samsung Galaxy S23 series, as well as the new OnePlus 11.
