Perhaps aside from its premium smartphones, Samsung’s wide array of desktop and gaming monitors are among its most sought-after products, and the South Korean tech giant recently unveiled its latest range of high-end screens, designed for both work and play. If you’re in the market for a new high-end display this year, then you might want to check out what Samsung has in store with its new Odyssey and Viewfinity monitors – let’s take a look!

ViewFinity S8

First up is Samsung’s 37-inch ViewFinity S8 model (aka the S80UD), which is designed for workspace scenarios. According to the company, the new S8 is the largest monitor currently in Samsung’s lineup to feature 4K resolution as well as a 16:9 aspect ratio, which amounts to a larger 34% increase in size compared to the older model, and it also features support for HDR10 and a 1-billion colour display. Other features include a 90W USB-C port for connectivity, with the ability to control multiple inputs via a keyboard, video and mouse (KVM) switch.
Odyssey 3D

The rise and fall of 3D-based displays back in the early 2010s is still sometimes used as one of the biggest examples of a tech trend not really catching on with the general public, although that hasn’t really stopped Samsung as we can see with this next entry. Aptly named the Odyssey 3D (G90XF), the monitor uses technology without the need for dedicated 3D glasses, a bit like what Nintendo did with its 3DS handheld line. The monitor comes with eye-tracking technology, as well as a proprietary lenticular lens to give users a more immersive 3D effect, in addition to a 165Hz refresh rate, Edge lighting and 4K resolution.
Odyssey OLED G8

While Samsung’s Odyssey monitors come with IPS screens, the company also uses some of its terrific-looking OLED tech for its higher-end Odyssey displays. Take for example the ODyssey OLED G8 (G81SF), which packs some pretty impressive features in two different sizes as 27 and 32 inches. The Odyssey OLED G8 comes with a 4K resolution, a rather smooth 240Hz refresh rate, and up to 250 nits of brightness. You’ll also find Samsung’s OLED Safeguard+, a cooling system that uses a Pulsating Heat Pipe to reduce OLED burn-in and Core Lighting+ that adds a bit of ambience to your gaming sessions.

Odyssey G9

Last on this list is the new Odyssey G9, a massive curved display which measures at 49 inches. The Odyssey G9 packs a dual QHD resolution screen that features a 1000R curve and a 144Hz refresh rate. There’s also support for VESA DisplayHDR 600 certification for clearer and more vivid colours, HDR10+ GAMING for optimized brightness, contrast and colour range, and added multitasking by way of picture-in-picture mode.
