We recently heard about both Samsung and Apple preparing to launch larger tablets around the 12-inch size, as they try to expand the tablet market, which is slowly stagnating the same as the smartphone market.
The Galaxy Note 12.2 may be Samsung’s way to offer a larger experience to those that want it. With notebooks starting to die out, Samsung may see this as an opportunity to offer something larger and cheaper to users who do not want the small tablet form factor.
This will still be a very mobile device however, with an Exynos 5 octo-processor powering the device. It seems this new size in the tablet area will not yield more powerful specs, allowing users to bootcamp other systems and use powerful applications.
The Galaxy Note 12.2 will have a gorgeous 2560×1600 resolution, one of the highest we have seen. Samsung seems to be one of the only providers capable of hitting this resolution on laptops and tablets at the moment.
We expect Samsung to add Android 4.3 to the tablet at launch, if not the latest version Android 4.2.2 will come with an early upgrade. Samsung is expected to add its TouchWiz UI to the Galaxy Note 12.2, as they have done with all other tablets.
It is a shame we will not see some impressive new features that take advantage of the 12-inch screen, perhaps Apple is cooking up something to make Samsung change their ideas. Samsung will launch the Galaxy Note 12.2 at IFA according to the leak, no price has been listed.
