Samsung has revealed the familiar Unpacked event, coming to Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The company has learnt how to tease, adding the bare minimum of details, but hinting at the Galaxy S5 launch.
The event will be live at Mobile World Congress on Monday February 24. Previous reports said Samsung would hold their own event pre-MWC, but it looks like the company will reveal the phone alongside other press events.
Samsung has not launched a flagship product at the trade show since the Galaxy S2, but the company may feel confident enough to go up against other industry titans, believing their product will shine out and push others aside.
It is a clever tactic and one that will probably work, we doubt the LG G Pro 2 will get much attention compared to the Galaxy S5. We do see people being interested in the HTC Two, the upcoming flagship from the Taiwanese giant, although we are not sure if that is coming to Mobile World Congress.
There are small hints that the Galaxy S5 will be coming to MWC, the Unpacked 5 event is enough for some, but Samsung goes further, saying the product comes a year after they invited press to get “ready 4 the show”.
All of the subliminal hints add up and Samsung is obvious ready to launch the Galaxy S5, even if it is a bit early in the year. The competitors look to be readying up their flagships for the year and we doubt this is the last model we will see at Mobile World Congress.
To recap on the reported specs, Samsung will add a quad-core Snapdragon 805 or octa-core Exynos 6 processor, depending on the region. This will come alongside 3GB of RAM, 16/32/64/128GB of internal storage, 3200mAh battery and LTE-advanced.
We are likely to see a new version of TouchWiz UI and a possible fingerprint sensor or eye scanning tech, allowing the user to unlock the smartphone and make mobile payments.
