What's This?

If you’re on the hunt for a new Samsung-branded monitor, then you might be thrilled to know that the Korean tech giant has recently announced the global availability of its 2023 smart monitor lineup. More specifically, the Samsung M8, M7 and M5 Smart Monitors will now be sold in several markets internationally. As per Hoon Chung, Executive Vice President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics:

“We are raising the bar for Smart Monitors globally with our new lineup and especially our enhanced M8 model. Within a single monitor, users can enjoy the best of entertainment and gaming, productivity, design and personalized convenience and comfort.”

Design and Display Quality

With that being said, the M8, M7 and M5 Smart Monitors are available in different colours and sizes. The M8 and M7 models are available in 32-inch variants, while the M5 model is available in both 32 and 27-inch versions. Meanwhile, the M8 with UHD resolution and 400-nit brightness is available in four different colour variants including Warm White, Daylight Blue, Sunset Pink and Spring Green. Additionally, the M7 with UHD resolution and 300-nit brightness comes in Warm White while the M5 with Full HD resolution comes in a sleek Black or White.

The monitors are designed to be sleek, with the M8 and M7 measuring at 11.39mm at their thinnest point. Samsung says that it has equipped the monitors with an organic, chic herringbone pattern on the rear of the M8 and M7 models in particular. There’s also a height-adjustable stand with tilt support that can go 90 degrees for better viewing angles.

Geared for Productivity and Play

Samsung adds that its 2023 lineup is geared towards remote work and productivity purposes. There’s built-in remote access functionality that lets gives users remote access by wirelessly connecting to and mirroring PCs. The M8 also comes with a magnetic and removable camera, which supports FHD resolution and video conferencing features. This includes connectivity to video conferencing apps with added Auto Framing capabilities, as well as an upgraded Multi View function that now allows usage with Microsoft 365 and the Browser app in full-screen mode.

The monitors will feature Samsung’s built-in Gaming Hub, as well as access to popular streaming services including Amazon and Netflix, to name a couple. There’s also support for mouse and keyboard controls, which are available across several apps, including SmartThings and Smart Hub.

IoT Features

Samsung has also enhanced the built-in IoT connectivity features, meaning that users can easily control all their in-home IoT devices from a single monitor with the built-in IoT Hub. Additionally, the M8 and M7 both include built-in voice assistants such as Amazon Alexa and Samsung Bixby, enabling users to control the monitor with their voice. Far-field voice is also supported in the M8 and M7 models with a built-in mic, so users can speak directly to the monitor.

There’s also a new My Contents feature, which allows instant access to user info. The feature works when the monitor is on standby mode and detects a registered smartphone via Bluetooth, which will then prompt the display to show user photos, weather and more. The monitor resumes standby mode when the smartphone is out of range.
