What's This?

After months of leaks and rumors, Samsung has finally unveiled its latest lineup of flagship foldable phones, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 and the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6. The new devices represent the latest generation of foldable Android hardware from the South Korean tech giant, offering upgrades while retaining some familiar features. With that being said though, what can we expect from the new foldables? Let’s take a look.

Galaxy Z Fold 6

Let’s start with the bigger of the two, the Galaxy Z Fold 6. The new foldable comes with some improvements to its form factor, which now features a more refined look and feel. When unfolded, users are welcomed by a large 7.6-inch main display featuring an AMOLED panel with a resolution of 2160 x 1856 pixel resolution and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. The exterior also features a 6.3-inch AMOLED display with a 2376 x 968 resolution and a matching 120Hz refresh rate.

Undoubtedly the star of the show, the Z Fold 6’s design comes with powerful specs inside. The device packs the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset from Qualcomm, paired with 12GB of RAM and a range of storage options, maxing out at 1 terabyte, all running on a 4,400 mAh battery. for software, the Z Fold 6 runs on Android 14 with Samsung’s One UI 6.1.1 on top, offering the company’s latest AI features.

The Z Fold 6 likewise comes equipped with a versatile camera system, including a 10-megapixel selfie camera on the cover screen and a 4-megapixel under-display selfie camera on the inner display. On the back, a triple-camera setup features a 50-megapixel main sensor, a 12-megapixel ultrawide sensor, and a 10-megapixel telephoto sensor with 3x optical zoom. It’s available in Silver Shadow, Pink, and Navy, and starts at £1,799.

Galaxy Z Flip6

Up next is the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6. Samsung’s more compact foldable phone features a 6.7-inch inner display with an AMOLED panel and a resolution of 2640 x 1080 pixels, rounded out by a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. On the outside, you’ll find a smaller 3.4-inch AMOLED display with a slower 60Hz refresh rate and a lower resolution of 720 x 748 pixels.

While the external display might seem like a missed opportunity compared to competitors like Motorola’s full-screen offering, the Z Flip 6 packs a punch inside. The phone features the all-powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, and is available in configurations with 12GB of RAM and either 256GB or 512GB of internal storage. Powering the device is a 4,000mAh dual-battery setup.

The camera system on the Z Flip 6 is a bit more modest compared to its more expensive sibling. The front houses a 10-megapixel selfie camera, while the back features a dual-camera setup with a 12-megapixel ultrawide sensor and a 15-megapixel main sensor. Like the Z Fold 6, it runs on Android 14 with Samsung’s One UI 6.1.1 on top, giving users access to Samsung’s exclusive software and apps. The Galaxy Z Flip 6 starts at a price of £1,049.
