Sony has stuck to the same design for their phones for a good few years, the OmniBalance glass front and back has become signature to anyone who follows the Android scene, but this new phone cropping up looks to take a different approach.
It is still not confirmed if it is even a phone, it is built in a way that would provide a large screen, but it might not have any cellular capabilities. The main focus on this new camera-phone is the camera, a 180 rotating 19MP shooter.
This looks like a camera that belongs…on a camera. The 1/2.3-inch 19MP sensor, with a 23mm wide angle prime lens, looks like an incredible option for anyone wanting to take photos, and these photos will be all about the selfies.
In some recent photos that have cropped up, Sony has been getting Asian female models to pose for selfies with the revolving camera. It does remind us of a perfume bottle, with the top part complete transparent and turnable.
Sony will be tailoring the device to the Asian markets, we believe. It is harder to sell gimmicky devices in the United States and Europe, but in countries Sony is well known in, we could see some growth from the unique camera.
The camera will have WiFi and NFC capabilities, along with their own app store, perhaps running on Android. Sony should make an official announcement this Friday, no word on the price for this camera.
