The Sony Honami has yet to actually be launched by Sony and already the Honami Mini has shown up on our radar with a new leak. Like most smartphone manufacturers on Android, the mini version is a way to get a less powerful smartphone on the market with the same branding.
With the Sony Honami’s main feature being the incredible 20MP camera, the Sony Honami Mini will snatch that feature and instead of just a dragged down mid-range device, we have a 4.3-inch smartphone capable of challenging the top-tier market.
Current flagship Android devices range around a 4.7-inch to 5.5-inch screen size, the Sony Honami comes with a Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM, HD 720p resolution, 16GB of internal memory and a 2400mAh battery.
If Sony can snap down the price a little for the Sony Honami Mini, this could be an ideal smartphone for all Android fans who love smaller devices. The Sony Honami is set to come with a 5.2-inch screen, larger than the Xperia Z.
Sources say this device will launch alongside the Sony Honami at IFA 2013 on September 4, a few hours before Samsung step on stage to launch the Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Gear smartwatch.
We have a very keen eye for the Sony Honami Mini, if the 720p display is not too bad and the price is not too radical, this could be a big step in assuring the smaller-sized Android market has a powerful smartphone.
