What's This?

As far as wireless audio is concerned, Sony is among the most-recommended brands when it comes to consumer-grade products, with impressive gear like the popular XM4 and XM5 headphones. With that in mind, the Japanese tech giant recently expanded its audio offerings with the announcement of the new WF-C710N Truly Wireless Noise Canceling Earbuds, in addition to new colour options for the WH-CH720N and WH-CH520 Wireless Headphones.

In terms of design, the WF-C710N earbuds come with a fairly sizeable look, although they don’t stick out from your ear due to the lack of a stem which still gives them that somewhat low-profile design, especially if you go for the black colour variant. It does make sense that they come with a rather chunky build, as Sony has packed quite a number of features within the earbuds. Available in black, white, pink, and glass blue, the earbuds also come with touch controls for playback and music control.

As for what’s inside, the WF-C710N earbuds include a dual-microphone setup which can detect noise around you, allowing for improved noise cancelling functionality; as with most modern earbuds, they also come with Ambient Sound mode in addition to noise cancelling. Sony has also included its 5mm driver within the earbuds, along with support for Digital Sound Enhancement Engine (DSEE) processing and tuning for better sounding bass and vocals. Users can further tweak their sound settings via the Sony│Sound Connect app.

For battery, the earbuds can last for up to 30 hours of playtime on a single charge, with up to an extra hour of usage should you quickly charge them for five minutes – this makes them ideal for long daily commutes, and even the odd transatlantic flight every now and then. Finally, they also come with IPX4 water resistance for a bit of added protection from accidental splashes and light rain, which should during workouts, outdoor runs in less-than-pleasant weather, and poolside podcast binges. They’re priced starting at £100.

In addition to the new earbuds, Sony has also given the WH-CH720N and WH-CH520 Headphones new additional pastel colour options. Both models will now be available in a muted pastel pink option, and the WH-CH520 will also come in a soft, muted yellow variant. For those unfamiliar with the models, the two headphones come with wireless audio connectivity, and in the case of the WH-CH720N active noise cancelling features. They are priced at £110 and £60, making them rather affordable compared to most other wireless headphones on the market.
