Sony fans, rejoice – the Japanese electronics giant has just announced two new headphones – the WH-CH720N and the WH-CH520 – which come with some nifty new features for music and media sessions. The new headphones feature lengthy battery performance, as well as Digital Sound Enhancement Engine which Sony says produces high-quality sound.
Additionally, the new headphones will be available this coming March 2023 – with that said, let’s take a look at what they have to offer in terms of overall features and quality.
WH-CH720N Headphones
The over-ear WH-CH720N wireless headphones come with Dual Noise Sensor technology and Sony’s Integrated Processor V1 chip for noise cancelling functions and external sound reduction. It’s also lightweight at 192 grams, making it comfortable and ideal for long music sessions thanks to 35 hours of battery life (with noise cancelling activated).
Sony says that the V1 chip produces an authentic listening experience by reproducing details in music tracks, alongside reduced distortion, with sound tuning designed to be well-balanced from low to high frequencies with natural and clear vocals. It also incorporates reduced processing delay, as well as two microphones in each earcup that blocks ambient noise from your immediate surroundings.
WH-CH520 Heapdhones
As for the WH-CH520 wireless headphones, they’ll be able to provide users with up to 50 hours battery life, and come in a comfortable design which is available in four different colours including black, blue, white and beige.
They’re also compatible with the Sony Headphones Connect app for smartphones, which allows users to adjust the ambient sound across 20 different levels for a bit of variety. As mentioned, it also comes with Sony’s Digital Sound Enhancement Engine which produces a high-quality sound, that lets users listen to their music in a way that sounds much closer to the original recording.
Connectivity and Call Features
In terms of call quality, the WH-CH720N headphones come with Beamforming microphones with Precise Voice Pickup technology, that allows the headphones to pick up your voice more clearly and accurately even in different environments. This is in addition to a newly-developed Wind Noise Reduction Structure around the microphones that reduces background noise.
Meanwhile, the WH-CH520 headphones also works with easy hands-free calling, thanks to easy-to-use controls situated on the earcups. Sony says it’s included built-in microphones and noise suppression processing for clear-sounding calls in noisy environments. Both headphones come with Multipoint connection with Swift Pair and Fast pair, allowing them to connect with multiple devices effortlessly.
Pricing and Availability
As for the price and availability, the WH-CH720N is available in black, blue, and white and Sony says that it will be available to purchase from March 2023 with an SRP of £130 / €160, while the WH-CH520 will be available in black, blue, white, and beige and will be available to purchase from March 2023 with an SRP of £60 / €70. Sony fans will want to keep an eye out for these when they launch, especially given the nice set of features and competitive pricing.
