Imagine you left the gas on before you went out and the only way you would have found out would have been that call from your neighbours or call from the police and you don’t get to save that favourite memorabilia or like me, the iMac with all your data on it. Well FireText smoke alarm could text up to four numbers including your own to make you aware that that could be fire at the nearest signs. It’s a really good idea, even though you should not fully depend on it, it’s still a step towards safer house.
And expensive. Safety, it seems, does not come cheap, as the FireText runs for $144 or £89.99 from Firebox.com. There is also the all-too-important matter of paying a carrier for the data transmission from the embedded SIM card.
