As with any new gadget hitting the market, there are plenty of rumours being churned out around the industry relating to the specification – whether it’ll have an amazing camera, does it run smoothly, is it lighter than air – and smartphones are right up there when it comes to the most talked about gadgets.
Particularly the latest offering from Samsung. A recent leak revealed that it would indeed, as suspected, be called the Galaxy S3, and what is believed to be an official user manual has revealed a few of the specifications which are due to be revealed later this month at a Samsung conference in London.
While nothing at all has been confirmed as yet, we are well aware that the Samsung GT-I9300, (the code name for the new Galaxy S3), will be running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, the latest version of the operating system.
Thanks to the “insider†who released the specifications, it will feature a 4.8-inch display with a new form of Super AMOLED technology, similar to that used in the Galaxy Note, which has a 5.3-inch screen. Samsung had previously said that it would run a 1.4GHz quad-core processor, although the leaked manual reveals that it will actually be 1.5GHz – this could either be a modification made recently or the manual could have been put together before that announcement so there is a bit of grey area here.
Many Galaxy S2 owners would have been hoping for significant improvements to the camera – something that is seen as vital in all smartphone developments as they aim to become the “all-in-one†gadget – but they may be disappointed to hear that the rear-facing camera is just 8 megapixels, far lower than the 12 megapixels on phones such as the Sony Xperia S. The camera will feature auto-focus and an LED flash and will be capable of recording video at 1080p.
In the leaked documents, you can see a notification LED on the left side of the front speaker, and it also talks about a wireless charging function which could be particularly ground-breaking and set it apart from the likes of the iPhone.
It is expected that the full details will be announced at the Samsung conference on 3rd May, so Galaxy S fans will have to stay glued to the blogs and forums that day to find out the confirmed details.
