If you own a Nothing Phone (2), then you might want to check if your phone is eligible for the latest software update from Nothing. Just this week, the company announced the arrival of Nothing OS 2.5.5 for its flagship handset, which brings some significant improvements, bug fixes, as well as Chat GPT integration. Nothing has listed all the included features in the update via an official community post, and it is a sizeable update as far as system upgrades go. With that being said, let’s check it out!
Nothing Phone (2) Specs
Launched back in 2023, the Nothing Phone 2 comes with some refinements to its predecessor from 2022, although it keeps a generally-similar look thanks to Nothing’s signature transparent hardware design, as well as the addition of its custom LED Glyph Interface. In terms of hardware, the Nothing Phone (2) features a 6.7-inch LTPO AMOLED display, a faster Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, up to 512GB of storage and 12GB of RAM, a 4700 mAh battery, as well as a a dual-array camera on the rear panel, which features a couple of 50MP sensors.
A Smarter OS
During the launch of its new wireless earbuds, Nothing promised users that it will be working on integrating ChaptGPT’s AI functionality to its software and hardware products. As such, upgrading to the latest ChatGPT version on the Play Store brings several new features: you can now initiate voice chats with ChatGPT using a new gesture in Nothing X for Nothing Earbuds (with support for other audio products coming soon), launch ChatGPT in various modes directly from your home screen with new widgets, and conveniently paste content from screenshots or your clipboard into a new ChatGPT conversation with a dedicated button in the pop-up menus.

New Tricks and More
The update also also allows support for high-dynamic-range photos with the new Ultra XDR mode (accessible in Camera settings) and lets users leverage the HDR switch in Photo and Portrait modes. Additionally, Nothing OS 2.5.5 also optimizes phone performance with the RAM Booster (found in System settings), manage sound with the new Ring Mode option in Quick Settings, and access audio recording and battery monitoring with the new Recorder and Battery widgets, respectively. Developers can also tinker with the Glyph Interface Debug Mode in the updated options.
Bugs be Gone
As for improvements and bug fixes, the firmware update includes enhanced system stability, smoother performance with optimized animations and app launches, faster Bluetooth connection setup, more intuitive volume controls, clearer album art in the Music Player widget, and a fix for various glitches like data issues when switching SIM cards, app launch flickering on the lock screen, AOD flickering, disappearing lock screen widgets, and wallpaper display problems.
Additionally, the Phone 2’s Bluetooth connection status and Wi-Fi setup within Quick Settings have been stabilized to eliminate flickering and frequent refreshing. Users can check their Settings app for the newest update, although it should be noted that Nothing’s firmware rollouts are usually staggered, meaning that not all users will receive the update simultaneously.
