While some might say that OnePlus’ flagship launches have been overshadowed by rival brands such as Samsung and their Galaxy S-series phones, there’s a lot to love about OnePlus’ premium-tier smartphones, especially for die-hard fans and Android users wondering what all the fuss is about. In particular, the new OnePlus 13 features a lot of impressive hardware, and you can also check out our full review on the device below.
Design and Display
The OnePlus 13 comes with a lot of the same design elements as seen on previous OnePlus devices, including the flat sides and display, as well as the off-centre camera bump that OnePlus has featured on a number of its smartphones for a while now. It’s a clean look that doesn’t go overboard, and also reminds you that this is indeed a OnePlus device at first glance. It’s got IP69 protection against dust and water, and comes in different variants with either glass or polymer back panels.
For its display, the OnePlus 13 features a massive 6.82-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a resolution of 1440×3168 pixels, and “ceramic guard” protection. With a peak brightness of 4,500 nits, this is undoubtedly one of the largest displays we’ve ever seen on a smartphone, nearing compact tablet proportions. This also means that it’ll be ideal for binging your favourite movies and shows, scrolling through the web, and playing games.
Internals and Software
As for gaming, the OnePlus 13 will be able to handle pretty much any supported game you throw at it – Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chip runs the show here, and it manages to impress both in terms of benchmarks and actual real-world usage. Games won’t be an issue, and everyday usage will be a breeze. The phone is also available in different RAM configurations starting at 12GB and maxing out at 24GB (with 1TB storage), which is impressive for a mobile device. It’s powered by a 6,000 mAh battery which also supports 100W wired charging.
For software, you’re getting Android 15 with OxygenOS included, which is OnePlus’ own custom Android skin that features support for personalized themes, in-depth system tweaks, and a bit more flexibility compared to something like on Google Pixel phones. Thankfully, OnePlus says that the 13 will come with up to four major Android upgrades – not as long as Samsung or Google however, which promise up to seven years for most of their flagships.
Camera Hardware and Pricing
For cameras, the OnePlus 13 features a pretty capable camera system featuring a 50MP main sensor with f/1.6 aperture, 23mm wide lens, and 1/1.43″ sensor size. This is accompanied by a 50MP periscope telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, and a 50MP ultrawide lens with a 120-degree field of view. There’s a variety of features which include Laser focus, Hasselblad Color Calibration, a color spectrum sensor, and Dual-LED flash as well. There’s also support for 8K video recording at 30fps, 4K at 30/60fps, and 1080p at various frame rates, and topping it all off is a front-facing camera 32MP sensor with an f/2.4 aperture and 21mm wide lens, capable of 4K video recording at 30/60fps.
If you’re in the UK and are interested in grabbing the OnePlus 13, it’s going to cost you £999, although OnePlus is currently running some early pre-order promos which brings the price down by quite a bit. Let us know your thoughts about the OnePlus 13 below!
