Perhaps one of the biggest open secrets within the smartphone industry over the past years is the relationship between Oppo and OnePlus, two of the most popular Android brands on the market. Operating under the wider umbrella of BBK Electronics, both Chinese companies have shared hardware and software elements across different smartphone models, smartwatches, and more recently, tablets.

More specifically, OnePlus recently announced the arrival of the OnePlus Pad for Chinese markets, which comes in a rather striking green colour variant. Take a closer look however and it becomes clear that the tablet in question is the Oppo Pad 3, which has apparently been rebranded as the OnePlus Pad in China. This is of course a bit different from the OnePlus Pad which was released a while back, and instead comes with the hardware configuration on the “regular” Oppo Pad 3 – this includes everything from aesthetics to internal components, which makes for an interesting strategy at least from a market perspective.
In terms of design, the new OnePlus Pad unsurprisingly bears a similar look to the Oppo Pad 3, and this includes the central camera bump on the rear panel, the overall contour of the sides, as well as the button and port placement. As with the original model, the tablet is clearly meant to be handled horizontally which should be ideal for movies and most tablet games. Meanwhile, the front houses the same 11.6-inch IPS display, which also features a 120hz refresh rate, up to 700 nits of brightness, and a resolution of 2000 x 2,800 pixels.
Inside, there are no changes either. You still get MediaTek’s Dimensity 8350 chipset, which is a slightly-tweaked variant of the Dimensity 8300 and is built on a 4nm process with an eight-core processor that runs on 3.35GHz Cortex-A715 prime cores. It’s also designed for enhanced gaming performance with improved power consumption thanks to the built in “StarSpeed Engine.”

In terms of storage and memory, the new OnePlus Pad model features an 8GB RAM configuration alongside with 128GB of internal storage, and buyers have the option of higher configurations which include up to 12GB of RAM, and 512GB of storage. In addition to the Dimensity 8350 chip, the tablet runs on a massive 9,520 mAh battery, with support for 67W charging speeds.
Despite being marketed as a OnePlus device, the tablet runs on ColorOS, as is the norm with OnePlus devices sold in China. There’s no word on whether or not it will be sold for other regions, although given that it’s already marketed under a different model name in Western markets, we wouldn’t be too surprised if this one stays within China. It starts at around €260 when converted.
