Ultra E-Bike gives you a great alternative to making a costly investment in an electric bike or more still, an electric car.
Many people have taken up cycling in the past year, encouraged by the pandemic, as well as0 concerns about climate change and air quality. If you already have a bike, Ultra E-Bike’s electrification system could be the most sustainable way to transform your bike into a battery powered vehicle. Let’s take a closer look at what’s in the box, how it is to set up and how it works.
Ultra E-Bike – What’s in the box
When you buy the Complete Ultra E-Bike kit, you get a big heavy box full of everything you need to get going. The largest part of the kit is the Ultra E-bike wheel itself, which replaces the standard front tyre on your existing bike. A disc brake is included to ensure your converted e-bike has decent stopping capabilities. The battery, battery charger, two battery lock keys and battery holder combine to take care of the power side of the setup. And things are rounded off with a handlebar phone bracket, pedal assistance sensor, cable ties and fitting tools.
Ultra E-Bike – Setting it up
The idea of converting your bike into an electric bike might seem daunting, but Ultra E-Bike keeps things super simple. You remove the front tire, replacing it with your Ultra wheel. Then you install the battery along the down tube – where water bottle holder fittings typically go. There’s a small bluetooth sensor that you attach to the pedal.
Finally, you connect it all with a wire running from the wheel to the battery, cable ties are provided in the kit for wire management. No specialist tools are required beyond what comes with the complete Ultra E-bike kit and it takes about 15-20 minutes to complete the conversion.
With the physical components installed, you have to download the Ultra E-Bike app. Available for both Android and iOS devices, the app allows you to set the sensor’s gyroscope – this must be done while the bike stands on a flat surface. Then you input the bike and rider weight and you’re good to go.
Ultra E-Bike – Verdict
There are a number of reasons to consider investing in an electric bike, but a decent one will carry a hefty price tag. Ultra E-Bike costs about half the price of a basic electric bike and allows you to keep the one you already have and love. I like it from a sustainability point of view, but also because it makes commuting and getting around even easier. It’s especially useful if you live in a particularly hilly area. Try not to think of it as completely powering your journey, but providing assistance, which can be dialed up or down, depending on how much extra boost you want.
