What's This?

For content creators looking to level-up their production game, there’s a wide selection of quality gear available from a variety of different brands and manufacturers. Insta360 is one of these brands, with an impressive lineup of products under its belt. Its Flow line of motorized gimbals have pretty much been worth the asking price, and its new Flow 2 Pro is looking to continue that tradition.

With that in mind, the Insta360 Flow 2 Pro comes with a host of different features in terms of both hardware and software. It’s priced starting at around £170 in the United Kingdom, which is a bit expensive compared to other motorized gimbals on the market. If you’re curious about what it comes with, here’s a quick rundown of the Flow 2 Pro’s many features and tricks.

One of the Flow 2 Pro’s best features is its stabilization capabilities, letting you film a variety of different shots in different angles and settings, all while keeping things stable. Whether you prefer a handheld setup or a dolly-based tracking shot, the Flow 2 Pro’s built-in stabilization keeps things mostly clean. This extends to the gimbal’s tracking capabilities, allowing it to keep a focused view on subjects even when they are moving.

This approach to tracking functionality works in tandem with Deep Track 4.0, which according to Insta360 works with AI in the background. Also present is Active Zoom tracking, a feature that lets users use their mobile phone’s camera to zoom in and keep a steady focus on subjects even when they move from afar. There is a limit to this functionality however as it maxes out at a 15X zoom distance, although at the end of the day it’s still an impressive feature nonetheless. For group shots, the Flow 2 Pro is also able to keep up with multiple subjects with real-time tracking, so no one is left out from the shot.

Interestingly, there’s even a built-in “Pro Framing Grid” that uses AI-based software to allow users to use the “Golden Ratio” when framing their shots. Other features include and improved design for better stabilization, built-in teleprompter functionality, and even a selfie mirror. For remote control support, users can tap on their Apple Watch for access to controls, or even use a secondary smartphone as a gimbal remote.

For software compatibility, the Insta360 Flow 2 Pro supports both Android phones and iPhones which adds to its overall versatility. There’s a bit of added functionality for iOS phones by way of Apple DockKit support, essentially allowing users to enable subject-tracking via Apple’s camera app for iPhones. Finally, there’s also Apple ProRes support as well as Dolby Vision. In terms of availability, the Insta360 Flow 2 Pro is now up on the brand’s official online store, as well as other licensed merchandisers.
