For the past couple of years, Chinese smartphone brand Honor has maintained a steady path forward thanks to a solid lineup of smartphones, and the company has once again expanded its product range with the new Honor 200 series, which were officially announced just recently. The 200 series consists of three smartphones including the “regular” Honor 200, Honor 200 Lite, and a more souped-up 200 Pro model
With that being said, we had a chance to go hands-on with the Honor 200 and 200 Pro, both of which manage to impress so far. What exactly can you expect with Honor’s new devices? Let’s take a look.
Design and Display
Let’s talk a bit about how they look – both phones come in a variety of colours, including Moonlight White, Emerald Green, Coral Pink, and Black. They have a similar design with a quad-curved display, and feel comfortable to hold due to their lightweight design with the Pro being slightly heavier at 199g. Unsurprisingly, the Honor 200 Pro is the slightly larger of the two devices, featuring a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 2700 x 1224 resolution. The Honor 200 has a slightly smaller 6.7-inch quad-curved display with the same refresh rate and resolution, and both phones boast a peak brightness of 4,000 nits.
Camera Hardware
As for their cameras, Honor has decided to equip both devices with triple camera setups. You’ll find a main camera with a 50 megapixel f/1.9 sensor with OIS and EIS, and there’s also a 50 megapixel f/2.4 telephoto camera with OIS and EIS, as well as a 12 megapixel f/2.2 ultrawide camera. Meanwhile, there are some differences with the front-facing camera on the two devices – you’ll get a dual-lens 50 megapixel selfie camera on the Pro and a single lens 50 megapixel selfie camera on the standard Honor 200.
Internal Specs and Software
Other differences can be found within the phones’ internal components. For one, the Honor 200 Pro is powered by a Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. There’s also a 5,200 mAh battery which It supports 100W wired charging, 66W wireless charging, and reverse wireless charging. Meanwhile, the standard Honor 200 has a Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 processor and starts with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, with an option for 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. It also has a 5,200 mAh battery and supports 100W wired charging, but lacks wireless charging capabilities.
For software, both phones run on Magic OS 8.0 which is based on Android 14. They include AI features like AI suggestions, Magic Text for extracting text from apps, and Magic Portal for dragging content between apps. Speaking of apps, you also get some Honor-exclusive apps onboard, in addition to some third-party apps which come pre-loaded onto the phone. Biometric security options include fingerprint unlock, face unlock, and PIN unlock.
Final Thoughts
Overall, the Honor 200 and Honor 200 Pro are both stylish phones with impressive cameras. The Pro model offers better performance with its Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor and additional wireless charging features, although that’s not to say that the regular model is a pushover as it does come with likewise capable features. In any case, Honor has made sure that there’s a choice for anyone for any budget – you just have to look closely.
