What's This?

We’ve finally made it to the weekend – while this past week was a mostly “tame” one for tech headlines, that doesn’t mean that we didn’t get any new hardware launches. With IFA 2024 just around the corner, a number of brands have started to tease their upcoming products, such as LG’s new smart home hub. We’ve also gotten some gaming goodness from names like Lenovo and Razer, the latter of which recently announced a new high-powered controller. So for those of you out there who somehow managed to miss out on all the recent tech action, here are some of the week’s headlines.

The Razer Wolverine V3 Pro is Feature-packed, with a Price to Match

Razer unveiled its latest addition to its massive lineup of premium gaming accessories, the Razer Wolverine V3 Pro. The V3 Pro comes with all the trappings that you’d expect from a Razer product, especially with the signature green-and-black look. Razer adds that it’s designed the controller to feature advanced customization for users, as well as improved input response times. The V3 Pro also comes with a set of mouse click back paddles (a rarity on most controllers), a pair of claw grip bumpers, Razer’s own “Pro HyperTriggers,” and of course, good old Hall Effect precision thumbsticks. One big consideration to be made with the Wolverine V3 Pro though is its £199 price tag, which makes it a lot more expensive versus competing products.

LG Unveils its Newest Smart Home Hub

LG recently announced the ThinQ ON hub, an AI-infused smart home command system. Despite being loaded with tech, the hub features a rather minimal build overall that allows it to stay discreet without being too distracting, while at the same time featuring a look that doesn’t look too plain. the hub comes with a built-in AI speaker system that allows users to stream media, and lets them communicate with the hub’s AI assistant as well. Of course the main highlight of the ThinQ ON is the software – LG says that the hub is designed to let users control other AI appliances, IoT hardware, and even Matter-enabled devices via spoken commands, as well as user requests spoken in a conversational tone.

Xiaomi Announces the Redmi Watch 5 Active

Xiaomi’s lineup of fitness-focused smartwatches and trackers make up quite a sizeable selection, and the company has once again launched a new smartwatch with the Redmi Watch 5 Active. The watch comes with a metal body with IPX8 protection in addition to an IPS LCD touchscreen which measures 2 inches, and comes with a 320 x 385 resolution with a peak brightness of 500 nits. Like a lot of other current Xiaomi products, the Watch 5 Active runs on the company’s HyperOS platform, and comes with over 200 different watch faces, more than 140 sports and workout modes, and automatic workout detection.

Check out these New Accessories for the Legion Go

Last but not the least on here is Lenovo – the Lenovo Legion Go is undoubtedly among the top PC-powered handhelds in the industry right now, blending impressive processing power and overall performance. If you own one, then you might want to check out these new accessories which add some practicality for everyday use – there’s the a new dedicated USB-C Dock designed for the Legion Go which also serves as a base charging station for the handheld, the Legion Go Charging Connector which lets you clip the removable controllers into a single and separate unit, an official carry case with an external hard-shell design, in addition to a Bluetooth-enabled Mini Keyboard which can also work with other devices wirelessly.
