There is plenty of hype surrounding any Apple event, but the pressure is mounted on Cupertino this fall, with the recent stock decline not stopping and some questioning the current innovation rate from the company.
Tim Cook did say this year would not have any real surprises, with 2014 bringing the new line of products from Apple. However, that does not mean WWDC 2013 will be without new products, we may see the new iPhone, iPad, iPad Mini and a new line of MacBooks.
iOS7
WWDC is a worldwide developer conference and the main agenda is the newest line of software from Apple. We will definitely see iOS7, with posters already revealing it.
The question is what will come on iOS7, the previous updates from Apple have not really done anything to change the atheistic of the operating system and we believe with a change in leadership this year, we may see a new design.
Jony Ive is said to have started trying to push a more minimalist design, with stark colours and black and whites. We may see the old stale textures die away and some apps completely redesigned to fit a modern mobile OS.
iRadio
Apple already has the biggest music collection in the world, with iTunes. With the vast amount of streaming options available nowadays, the company may want to move into the new wave of listening to music.
iRadio will apparently be a free to use service, relying on iAds for revenue. This is questionable though, we believe you will be able to listen to a large amount of the library but with ads enabled and no playlists.
The service will then offer a subscription service for a monthly rate, this will remove iAds and also allow the user to create radios and playlists.
iPhone 5S
The iPhone 5S may only be a small change to the previous version, with leaks from the Foxconn assembly line showing the same size device with a 12MP camera.
Apple could announce the iPhone 5S with a release date sometime in the late fall this year. We expect Apple will want to get the hype up for the smartphone, although it may drop back on them if the upgrade is not huge.
iPad 5
The iPad 5 will reportedly have a redesign to look like the iPad Mini and we may see the first inclusion of a keyboard with the larger model. This will be Apple’s take on the Windows 8 devices and will push the larger iPad into its own category.
We doubt the iPad Mini will be at this event, we believe Apple will want to give the larger model a boost in sales before announcing the smaller version in October at their other annual event.
MacBook AirÂ
The MacBook Air is said to come with the retina display, something many Apple fans have wanted since the MacBook Pro came with the high-resolution display.
We may not see the new Mac or MacBook Pro line until the October event. We believe the MacBook Air will be even thinner than before, while taking less battery life because of the new Haswell processor.
