With the 21st May fast approaching it’s not long until Xbox finally unveil their new next gen console. The Xbox 720 (dubbed by many spectators as it’s name) may actually be called Fusion. Whilst the name isn’t a big deal, Microsoft surely must have teams dedicated to things like this, their acquisition of the XboxFusion domains across all suffixes from .com to .de hints at this being something they have interest in.
Considering they registered this all the way back in 2004 it could be something completely unrelated to the Xbox and something to do with their Windows Phone or integration with their PC’s. It’s not completely set in stone with some people simply wondering if they will just call it “Xbox” on it’s own. Whilst the name isn’t a huge detail that people harp on about we’ve slowly been getting spec in from all over the shop, some slightly disturbed and some pretty interesting.
Some of the disturbing information emerging points at Xbox preventing games being played on more than one system. One game per one console. This information is a slight slap in the face to shops such as Game and Cash Exchange (CEX) that mainly make their money off reselling games, which seems a bit of a big blow to too many people. With this in mind it seems highly unlikely this’ll be the case as it seems counter productive for too many people. Alongside this there has been hints at the console needing an active internet connection at all times, with the rumoured information on this game release here.
Some good to come though, Microsoft will finally be able to confirm and deny whether we’re going to be seeing a Kinect 2.0 or an upgraded version of the existing Kinect. Whether or not we’re going to see a Blu-Ray Player integrated, and whether this machine really is the next gen of gaming.
With this said, we could be heading for the best console yet, and it’s an exciting time for the Xbox community as we might see some more “battle to the ends of the earth” scenarios from all sides defending their consoles. This Xbox may see the end to this. And unite us as one. All kidding aside, the whole aura around this release is ecstatic and we’ll be bringing you updates here as it happens on GadgetsBoy.
Xbox has updated the information on the unveiling and has stated that it’ll be doing the grand unveil at 10am PDT or 5pm GMT.
