It’s that time of the year again – Xiaomi has finally unveiled its latest flagship-series devices, the Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro. The new handsets offer a ton of impressive hardware, and while they’re exclusive to Chinese markets at the moment, there’s no reason why Xiaomi fans – and Android enthusiasts in general – shouldn’t be excited about this latest release. Let’s take a look!
In terms of power, both phones run on Qualcomm’s newest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, and this comes with a few more similarities between the two devices (albeit with some slight differences). For one, the Xiaomi 13 Pro comes with a large 6.73-inch display with a 120Hz variable refresh rate, 1440 x 3200px resolution, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and even an ambient color temperature sensor, a feature not commonly seen on most current smartphones.
The 13 Pro also features a triple camera setup on the back, which includes 50MP Sony IMX989 sensor coupled with a Leica-branded lens, aided by a 50MP telephoto camera and a 50MP ultrawide lens. Additionally, there’s a 4,820 mAh battery inside the 13 Pro with support for 120W wired charging, 50W wireless charging, and 10W reverse charging.
Meanwhile, the Xiaomi 13 comes with a 6.36-inch OLED display with a 1080 x 2400px resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and an ambient color sensor, very similar to its slightly more premium sibling. On the rear panel is a 50MP main camera, a 10MP Leica telephoto lens, and a 12MP ultrawide lens. Powering the phone is a 4,500 mAh unit with 67W fast wired charging, 50W wireless charging and 10W reverse wireless charging.
While there are some considerable similarities between both devices, price will ultimately be the deciding factor as to which phone you should go for.
As we mentioned earlier, both devices are currently only available in China, with the Xiaomi 13 going for around $575 for the base 8/128GB version, while the Xiaomi 13 Pro goes for around $720 for the base 8/128GB model. Xiaomi fans looking to get their hands on the new phones should keep a lookout for further announcements regarding the global release and pricing.
