After Two years of technical issues, YouView has finally launched their TV set top box that will bring to UK consumer TV the BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5 contents without the need for an ongoing subscription.
“Speaking at the YouView launch event today, Lord Alan Sugar revealed that BT and TalkTalk have come on board as launch partners, offering extra content to subscribers of their broadband services and additional packages that will include YouView access.” TNW
YouView will set users back £299 when it’s available from retail stores in July and will aim to bring a new way of watching TV with ability to catch up on week’s worth of missed TV programmes.  There are variety of TV catchup services already available on the market from Virgin Media and another big player Sky aiming to bring some catch up TV also; YouView will be facing some big competition.
Concerns over price and late launch already raises questions over the future success of YouView; costing £299 will work out roughly about £25 per month and you can already get a better deal with Virgin Media for just under £25 per month.
Over to you, what are your thoughts? will you be buying one?
